News from the Deputy Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the new school year. I hope you have had an amazing time relaxing, enjoying the sunshine, and spending time with your family over the break.

If you haven't met me or aren't sure about my roles at the school, I'd love to introduce myself.

My name is Katie Vranken, and my roles at St Joseph's are Deputy Principal, Learning Diversity Leader, and Mental Health in Primary Schools Leader.  I also like to be in classrooms when possible as my first love has been teaching!

As you can see my roles are varied, but at the same time, have many overlapping elements.

My Learning Diversity Role is one that is important to students and families at St Joseph's.  I am often the first port of call for you when needing support for your child if needing assistance with referrals to specialists such as paediatricians, psychologists or contacts for Occupational Therapists or Speech Pathologists.  At St Joseph's, we run Parent Support Meetings (PSGs) where we meet once a term (minimum) to go over the goals set for your child, with families and classroom teachers, in regards to educational and wellbeing supports.  If your child has additional needs and is supported by specialists, it is important to share copies of any reports you may have which may support your child in a school setting.

PSGs

PSG are scheduled for the end of Term 1 so please pencil in these dates to your calendar if your child already has these meetings.

The dates are:

Thursday 26th March

Friday 27th March

Monday 30th March

Bookings will open in week 7.  Please keep an eye out for emails or information about how to book.

Parent Handbook 2026
