What a term it has been for STEM!

BPS Primary School Visit

Our Year 8 HAP students had the opportunity to host Grade 5 and 6 students from Blackburn Primary School, showcasing their leadership skills and understanding of light through a range of fun and engaging activities.

There were no photos taken as everyone was simply having too much fun! A huge thank you to Mr Hall, Mr Vuong and Ms Reber for all your hard work in making the day such a success.

Melbourne Robotics Tournament & “The Burnouts” Success

During the holidays, you could have been forgiven for thinking you had been transported into a futuristic world, as BHS hosted the Melbourne Robotics Tournament.

Students from teams across the country came together to compete for the championship, putting their creativity, problem-solving and robotics skills to the test.

It was a thrill to watch the robots battle it out, and even more exciting to see one of the BHS “Burnouts” teams make it through to the finals! We can’t wait to see what you achieve next year. Thank you to Mr Metheringham as always for all his support. 

Celebrating National Science Week

This year, we celebrated National Science Week and the theme “Seeds of Science” by showing a compilation of short science films over lunchtime.

Students enjoyed a range of short films that explored the world of science through a creative and engaging lens, highlighting the many ways science can inspire curiosity and imagination.

Senior VCE Excursions

Term 3 saw our VCE Science students getting out and about on a range of excursions, allowing them to take their learning beyond the classroom and into the real world.

Our Year 11 Psychology students visited Melbourne Zoo, while our Year 12 Chemistry students attended the Monash Organic Spectroscopy Symposium, and our Year 12 Physics students took full advantage of the opportunity to see a synchrotron in action.

It has been a busy and exciting term for STEM, with plenty of opportunities for our students to learn, lead, explore and get involved!
