Introducing Our Updated SOLE Matrix
We have a lot to share with our community in this newsletter, including an update to our SOLE Matrix, a couple of important reminders for the weeks ahead and a special note of thanks to the fathers and father figures among us.
Our Wellbeing Team has spent a significant amount of time working with staff and students to review our behaviour curriculum and SOLE matrices. After much discussion, we have updated the SOLE Matrix to be clearer and more consistent across the school.

SOLE stands for | SELF | OTHERS | LEARNING | ENVIRONMENT | and is a shared way of talking about what good behaviour looks like in any context. We know that our children thrive when expectations are consistent, and SOLE gives every staff member the same language to teach, recognise and encourage that behaviour.
The 5Rs
Alongside SOLE sits our 5Rs framework, which is our predictable response to behaviour. It is built around | RECOGNISE | REMIND | RESET | REPOSITION | REBUILD |. This sequence of responses is less about punishment and more about teaching students and supporting them to understand what happened, put things right and move forward. The 5Rs keeps staff responses to behaviour fair, predictable and focused on education and growth.
The Family Role
We understand that you know your children best, and what happens at home matters just as much as what happens at school. If you can, take a look at the matrix, have a chat with your child about what it means in practice and try to use the same language we use at school when behaviour comes up in conversation. Building connections between home and school through the shared language of our SOLE matrix can help our young people enormously. If anything is unclear, please contact your child's Teacher Advisor to talk things through.

Happy Father’s Day

To all the dads, grandads and father figures in our school community – thank you, and Happy Father’s Day. The role you play in our students’ lives doesn’t go unnoticed and we hope you get to enjoy some well-earned time with your families this weekend. Please check out the special report on our SchoolTV page which explores the positive impact that fathers can have on their child's mental health and wellbeing: http://sakyabram.catholic.schooltv.me/wellbeing_news/celebrating-fathers-day
Hats On from Week 7
Please remember that hats are required to be worn from Week 7 of Term 3. We ask that you check your child has a named school hat to wear when they are outdoors at school. Without a hat, your child will need to stay in allocated shaded areas of the school during outdoor time.
Every Day Counts
A gentle reminder that attendance matters. We know that sometimes it can’t be avoided, but where possible, please book non-urgent appointments (e.g. haircuts etc.) for before or after school, or during the holidays. This will help prevent your child from missing out on valuable learning time. If your child is going to be away, please add this to PAM or let the office know. If mornings are ever a struggle, please reach out – we are always happy to help find a way forward together.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child - wishing you all a safe and restful term break.
Kind regards,
Alison Dietrich
