Book Week 2026
The Book Character Parade
Our Symphony of Stories Parade went off with a bang last Friday and what a fun, story filled Book Week we had. We really appreciate all the effort that students, families and staff went to with their costumes! It made for such a happy and memorable day. At its heart, Book Week is about celebrating reading and putting books and stories on centre stage for our students. While we hope this happens every day, being able to specially recognise the importance of stories and reading for a week is wonderful. We hope the students had as much fun as we did!
A Week of Book Activities
We had a lot of visitors to the library at lunchtime over the week, where we made dragon's eggs, Christmas decorations and bookmarks, all linked to some of the CBCA finalists books. There were competitions to enter including colouring in and guessing the book character from our banner. Some of our younger students also practiced dressing up during the Library sessions ready for the parade.

The CBCA Book of the Year Award winners were announced on Friday August 21st, with The Emperors Egg by Rae Tan, Once I was a Giant by Zeno Sworder and Inked by Karen Wasson being the official winners. Our students did their own voting and results were a little different on some of the stories but overall they were happy with the judges decisions.
