From the Principal

As we move into the final weeks of Term 3, it is hard to believe just how much has been packed into the past few weeks at St Augustine’s College. Our school community has been incredibly busy, with learning, faith, community and celebration continuing across all areas of the College.

This week we held our Lone Pine Ceremony in conjunction with Legacy, providing an important opportunity for our students to reflect on service, sacrifice and remembrance. We have also celebrated our Beaut Blokes Breakfast, Footy Colours Day and Father’s Day Liturgy, along with our Father’s Day Stall in preparation for this Sunday. These events have provided wonderful opportunities for our students and families to come together and we look forward to celebrating the special fathers and father figures in our community this weekend.

Last week we celebrated our St Augustine’s Feast Day, beginning with a beautiful Feast Day Mass followed by cupcakes and our shared family picnic. A huge thank you to the many families who generously baked cupcakes for our students - your contribution helped make the celebration such a success. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the afternoon together.

Our recent Book Week celebrations were another highlight, culminating in our wonderful Book Week Parade. The creativity, enthusiasm and effort shown by our students and staff was fantastic. A special thank you to Trish Baker and Jo Oliver for their organisation of the parade and the many activities throughout the week. This followed an equally successful Science Week, with our Science staff providing a range of engaging activities and experiences for students.

Alongside these major events, we have also had Subject Teacher Conversations, sports days, excursions and a wide range of learning and co-curricular activities occurring across the College. The list really is extensive and it is a wonderful reflection of the opportunities our staff continue to provide for our students.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer a huge thank you to our staff for their ongoing commitment, energy and care. In particular, the work of our Executive Team has been significant throughout what has been another very busy term. I would especially like to acknowledge Rach Chapman for the enormous amount of organisation that goes into our many community events and celebrations. Much of this work happens behind the scenes, but it makes such a difference to the experiences of our students and families.

With just two weeks remaining until the school holidays, there is still plenty happening, including excursions, sporting events and other activities across the College. We also look forward to St Augustine’s Got Talent next Wednesday evening - I encourage as many members of our community as possible to come along and support our talented students.

Finally, to all of the amazing dads, grandfathers and father figures in our St Augustine’s community, best wishes for Father’s Day this Sunday. I hope you enjoy a wonderful day with your families and feel celebrated for all that you do.

We have much to be grateful for as we approach the end of another busy term. Thank you to our students, staff and families for everything you continue to contribute to our College community.
