HEALTH CAMP

HEALTH CAMP
Students Rhiannon Rawlins, Chloe Fildes, Emma Gardner and Phoebe Ye had a fantastic opportunity to attend an overnight camp at Federation University in Churchill. They emersed themselves in the possible health studies on offer and learned about the career paths in health through Federation and Monash Universities and TAFE Gippsland Morwell Campus.
At Federation University the students rotated through the different departments of Physiotherapy, Sports and Exercise, Nursing and Midwifery and Monash Medicine which allowed them to do some hands-on sessions. The final session was a presentation from Gippsland Radiation Oncology.
The students then attended a dinner at the Morwell RSL where they listened to speakers on their different pathways in the Health Sector. The students shared a table with many different health professionals that rotated through the night. This was one of the favourite things for the students as they were able to talk to them one on one.
On the final day of the camp the students went to TAFE Gippsland in Morwell where students rotated once again and participated in CPR, bandaging, administering an IV on a mannequin, putting on PPE and learning how to lift patients and many more activities.
Thank you to the South Gippsland Bass Coast Local Learning & Employment Network and the Baw Baw Latrobe LLEN for organising this very interesting and insightful camp.
