Mathematics Assembly

Mathematics is more than just solving equations on paper, rather, it trains the way we think. From planning your time or money to noticing patterns in everyday lives, like the arc of a basketball, Maths helps you to develop logical and structured thinking. If a Maths topic you are learning may seem pointless, just remember that you’re learning a smarter way to approach life, and that’s a skill you’ll use every day!

This year’s Mathematics Assembly (Monday 6 October) celebrated the benefits of Maths in our daily lives. Students who achieved a Distinction and High Distinction in the Australian Maths Competition were also acknowledged, and the event concluded with a Card Game 24 Tournament showdown to crown the ultimate champion, Leah C (8.5).

We’d like to congratulate all the students who received a Distinction in the Australian Maths Competition and give special recognition to Zichong Y (8.7) for earning a High Distinction. He was also the student winning last year’s Pi Digit Contest, correctly citing 430 digits of the Pi value.

Stay curious and God bless!
