Festival of the Arts

The Festival of the Arts on Friday 10 October was an amazing community event that highlighted the theme of Flourish, combining the Visual Arts, Music and Drama. The Art displays, curated by Mr Ben Niemandt (Secondary) and Mrs Jacqui Kelly (Junior), highlighted the breadth and depth of the College’s Art program and the creativity of the students.
This year, we were especially honoured to have received art entries from parents, staff, and alumni for display.
Members of the Middle Years Production in their Frozen JR. costumes acted as guides for the many members of the community who came to enjoy the food and the festival atmosphere. Our Senior Concert Band, Senior Stage Band and Junior Concert Band, gave exceptional performances outside, creating a wonderful sense of joy and excitement. One highlight was the joining together of the Senior and Junior Concert Bands, bringing together over eighty musicians. Camerata, Cantabile and Malaguena created a sense of calm in the Junior Art area, as viewers of the displays also enjoyed some string music. The Royal Australian Navy Band entertained the large crowd with an extended performance to conclude the Festival.
The Royal Australian Navy Band
Earlier in the day, Lieutenant Matt Booth and the members of the Royal Australian Navy Band led our students in some workshops. The Year 7 Band, Junior Concert Band and Senior Concert Band benefited from their expertise and the experience of playing with professional musicians. Our Senior Concert band also had the privilege of combining with the Royal Australian Navy Band in a performance of Wade in the Water in the Festival of the Arts.
A big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the work of our students.
Student Art Competition
This year we had a number of entries across the College, including entries 43 across Junior School, for our biennial Festival of the Arts Student Art Competition. Each artist brought their own creative interpretation of the theme Flourish, and together their artworks made for a wonderful display of talent.
