Sadly the parish have let us know that next Wednesday 10th June the Year One Mass cannot go ahead due to an unforseen event.
Year One will now lead the mass on June 17th with Foundation students as their guests!
Confirmation Workshops
Our Confirmation workshops are coming up next week for those children in Year Six and enrolled in the program. Each session is designed for parents and children to work together, with lots of hands on activities planned to help prepare for this special sacrament. Please check whether you are scheduled for the Tuesday or Thursday workshop next week so you can attend the correct session.
The Bird Who Didn’t Know Its Gift
At our grade five mass Father explained his Gospel using a story of a bird.
Sometimes we look around and feel like everyone else has something we don’t. A little bird once felt exactly that way. It watched the deer move with such grace, the horses run with such strength, the rabbits dart with such speed, and the peacocks shine with such beauty. The bird looked at its own wings and thought they were nothing but a burden. Heavy. Awkward. Not special at all.
One day a fire swept through the forest. All the animals ran as fast as they could. The deer leapt away. The horses thundered forward. The rabbits disappeared into the distance. The little bird tried to run too, but its wings kept getting in the way.
Then something surprising happened. The bird lifted its wings. And lifted again. Suddenly it rose above the flames, above the smoke, above everything that had frightened it. The very thing it once wished away became the gift that saved it.
Jesus reminds us not to worry about our clothes, our hair, or how we compare to others. God has given each of us something special, even if we don’t see it straight away.
Sometimes our “burdens” turn out to be our wings. Sometimes we only discover our gifts when life asks us to be brave.
