Dear Families,

We had a very successful closure day with our local schools, St Thereses and St Agathas, where all staff came together for a full day focused on creating the conditions for learning. It was a great opportunity to share ideas and strengthen our collective practice.

Our staff highly valued the practical nature of Glen Pearsalls professional learning and identified low level interventions, positive acknowledgement, calm adult responses and consistent behaviour language as strategies that made an immediate difference.

The strongest opportunity moving forward is to embed this work through a shared St Thomas behaviour playbook, continued development of common language and routines, and further professional learning.

We appreciate families making alternative arrangements for their children on this day, which allows us to have a school closure and continue important improvement agenda work. Your support ensures staff can engage fully in planning, reflection and professional learning that strengthens teaching and learning across the school.

We finished this week with continued Reconciliation Week learning, reflection and prayer across the school. The children have explored the stories behind Sorry Day, why it matters and how it connects to our call to walk gently, listen deeply and work for healing.

Through class discussions, prayer and age appropriate learning, students are beginning to understand the importance of reconciliation and the role we all play in building respectful relationships with First Nations peoples.

Our learning culminated in a fundraising initiative for the Opening the Doors Foundation. We sincerely thank all students and families for their generous donations. Through your support, we are helping to create greater educational opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and putting reconciliation into action within our community. We raised over $550, thanks so much.

A polite reminder that Monday, 8 June, is a public holiday and the school will be closed.

Bookings are now open for Parent Teacher Conversations through PAM.
