Spotlight on Learning

Bethlehem Community

Dear Families,

It has been another busy and rewarding week at school. This week, our students proudly represented the school at Interschool Sports, competing against students from 23 schools across the surrounding area. They demonstrated outstanding grit, determination, teamwork and sportsmanship, giving their best effort in every event.

On Thursday, our school hosted a fundraiser for the Opening the Doors Foundation to mark the conclusion of Reconciliation Week. Students were encouraged to wear their pyjamas to school as a symbol of support and solidarity. We are proud of the enthusiasm shown by our school community in supporting this important cause and helping to raise awareness of opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and communities.

Learning for the Week Ahead

Religious Education: In Religion, students are continuing to learn about the Fruits of the Holy Spirit, the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the Sacrament of Confirmation.

English: In English, students explored the structure and key features of informative texts by examining voting in Australia and identifying how factual information is organised and presented to an audience.

Mathematics: In Mathematics, students are learning to identify, compare and name probabilities using numerical scales to describe the likelihood of events occurring.

Integrated Curriculum: In Integrated Studies, students are learning how people and governments respond to climate hazards and how these responses can influence a country's vulnerability and resilience.

Auslan: In Auslan, the Year 6 students are completing their end-of-unit assessment, demonstrating their understanding of the signs, grammar and communication skills they have developed throughout the unit.

Social & Emotional Learning: In SEL, students are learning positive coping strategies to help them manage challenges, regulate their emotions and build resilience in everyday situations.
