Year 6 Update

Term 2 Weeks 3 & 4 Recap!

Over the past fortnight, Year 6 students have been extremely busy and have continued to show great enthusiasm towards their learning. A huge focus has been on preparing for our upcoming Market Day, with students working incredibly hard on planning and developing their stalls.

Our School Captains, Ella and Josh, recently took a persuasive piece of writing to School Council, sharing the collective ideas of the Year 6 cohort. The students passionately argued that the money raised during Market Day should go towards reducing the cost of the Year 6 Big Day Out excursion later in the year. Their arguments were thoughtful, convincing and highly persuasive, and School Council agreed with their proposal! We are very proud of the initiative, teamwork and student voice demonstrated throughout this process.

Students have also presented their product prototypes and business pitches to their classes. During these presentations, students outlined the costs involved in creating their products, projected revenue and potential profit margins. They then received constructive feedback from their peers and teachers to help further refine their products and continue effectively planning for Market Day.

During English, students have been working hard on our text study of the novel Skellig. They have engaged thoughtfully with the themes, characters and events throughout the text and have demonstrated strong discussion and comprehension skills during class activities.

In Mathematics, we have concluded our unit on addition. The teachers were extremely proud of the knowledge and understanding students demonstrated during their addition post-test. Keep an eye out for this task appearing as an Ongoing Reporting Task on Compass in the coming weeks.

A reminder that our Dandenong Market excursion will take place next Friday 22nd May. Students are welcome to bring up to $20 cash only (no cards or digital payment methods) to purchase their lunch during the excursion.
