It was wonderful to see so many families at our recent Teacher–Family Conversations. We truly value these opportunities to connect with you and celebrate your child’s learning and progress.

Camp is only a few weeks away, and we are incredibly excited to immerse ourselves in the Gold Rush experience at Sovereign Hill. This is always a highlight of the year! Please ensure that all required forms have been completed, including the Medical Information for Excursions form, and that your child’s photograph permissions are up to date.

Mathematics

We have commenced our multiplication unit, where students are developing their understanding of a range of strategies to solve multiplication problems. This includes building fluency with their times tables and applying efficient written and mental strategies to support their problem solving.

English

In English, we are continuing our novel study of Music for Tigers. Through the novel, students are exploring themes such as connection to place, empathy, and conservation, while developing their comprehension skills through rich discussion and reflection.

We are also continuing to develop students’ fluency through daily fluency passages, strengthening their reading accuracy, pace, and expression. In spelling, students are building their understanding of word patterns by exploring the suffix ‘-ite’ and how it changes the meaning of base words.

Reminders

As part of our commitment to ongoing assessment, we encourage families to regularly check their child’s Learning Tasks. These can be accessed via Compass. If you are experiencing any difficulties accessing Compass, please reach out to our office for support.

Learning Tasks provide real-time feedback on student progress, celebrate student learning, and offer valuable insights into areas for growth.

Homework

Students are encouraged to continue developing strong learning habits at home by:

  • Practising weekly spelling words
  • Reading regularly
  • Revising times tables
