Acting Assistant Principal
Our transition process for students planning on attending Heatherwood School in 2027 has already commenced. We have run several group tours and information sessions that have been well received by the families and young people who attended. If you are considering Heatherwood School for a sibling or know of a family member or friend who may be interested, we encourage you to visit our website to review our enrolment criteria and book a tour using the online booking form. The booking form can be found at: https://www.heatherwood.vic.edu.au/page/31/Book-a-Tour. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office or send me an email at: sharon.koupparis@education.vic.gov.au.
Heatherwood School is now in our second year of the Disability Inclusion (DI) framework. This new approach is designed to better support students with disabilities in government schools and has replaced the previous Program for Students with a Disability (PSD) funding model. Last year, we worked with 19 students and their families through the Disability Inclusion Profile process. In 2026, we are looking to support more than 40 Heatherwood families. To take part in a Profile meeting, the school provides documents that show the adjustments and supports your young person receives at school and during off-campus programs. Documents include their Individual Education Plan (IEP), notes from Student Support Group (SSG) meetings, and a Vineland assessment. When your young person is selected for a Profile meeting, we will send home paperwork for you to sign. This will include a consent form and an availability sheet where you can let us know which days and times (morning or afternoon) suit you best. After we submit this information, the Disability Inclusion Facilitator Service will contact us with a proposed meeting date and time. Profile meetings can run for up to two hours, but you won’t be doing it alone. Your young person’s Classroom Teacher and members of the Heatherwood School Disability Inclusion Team will support you through the whole process. If you have any questions at any stage, please contact the office and ask to speak with someone from the Disability Inclusion Team.
