Introducing....
Preetika Balanathan
I had the pleasure of completing my first teaching placement at Scoresby Secondary College during my teacher training, and I am excited to have returned to the school community as a Science and Mathematics teacher.
Coming back to Scoresby Secondary College feels especially meaningful, as it is a place where I began my journey into the teaching profession and now continue it as a classroom teacher.
While I am relatively new to teaching, I bring with me an extensive scientific research background, having worked across both industry and university settings.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, a PhD in Medical Studies, and a Master of Teaching (Secondary). This background allows me to connect classroom science to real-world applications, research, and current scientific thinking.
At Scoresby Secondary College, I currently teach Senior Science, VCE Biology, and Year 7 Mathematics. I am passionate about making science accessible, engaging, and meaningful for all students, and I place strong emphasis on building confidence, developing deep understanding, and preparing students for future pathways. I hope to transfer not just scientific knowledge, but my love for science and learning to the students of Scoresby Secondary College.
I am also proud to be local to the Knox community. Outside of school, you will often find me at the basketball courts on Friday nights and weekends, supporting my two children, who both play.
Being part of the local community is something I value greatly, and I enjoy building strong connections with students and families both inside and outside the classroom.
I look forward to continuing my teaching journey at Scoresby Secondary College and contributing positively to the learning and wellbeing of our students.
