Health and Physical Education News
What a wonderful semester we have had in Health, PE and Sport.
Our students continue to impress with their positivity and enthusiasm as we see them actively improving their knowledge, skills and fitness.
In recent weeks students in Years 7 to 10 have turned their attention to preparing for the upcoming Athletics Carnival.
They have enthusiastically practiced and developed techniques for events that have included sprinting, distance running, high jumping, triple jumping, discus, shot put and javelin.
Students have enjoyed our emphasis on personal best and skill improvement.
Our whole school Athletics Carnival is one of the highlights of our year and we anticipate that it will be a huge success again this year.
We also remind students and parents that this is a compulsory school activity and is a Common Assessment Task for all PE students. All students are expected to participate in at least 3 events.
We continue to see that our students’ dedication to improvement has resulted in a much-improved performance at the interschool level. This term, this has been particularly evident in the sports of badminton, soccer and netball where our teams have been highly competitive.
We have excelled in badminton by winning 5 Runner Up Pennants. This is our best interschool result for over a decade.
In Health classes our students continue to engage in their tasks as they develop the knowledge and ideas required to live a healthy and balanced life.
Another highlight for us has been the enormous level of active participation in activities at recess and lunchtime.
A high percentage of our students take the opportunity to borrow sports equipment to play with in their breaks and the gym and fitness centre are open every lunchtime for participation in activities that have included, pickleball, volleyball, weight training, table tennis, netball and soccer.
Well done students, we admire your positivity and active involvement and look forward to working with you again next semester.
