VCE Art: Making and Exhibiting Excursion
Year 11 and 12 VCE Art students had an amazing day in the city to see a number of Australian art exhibitions located at the National Gallery of Victoria at Federation Square. The purpose was to gain inspiration for art making and knowledge of the requirements and considerations for art exhibiting.
Firstly, we viewed the Top Arts Exhibition, showcasing the best works and Visual Diaries (folios) of 2025 VCE Art students. Viewing these examples provides a rich source of information and inspiration for our student’s own art practice.
Moving across to the Ian Potter Gallery, we viewed three levels of exhibitions, beginning with an amazing selection and presentation of traditional and contemporary Australian Indigenous art and then on to other Modern and Contemporary art works from a range of Australian artists.
Finally, we visited ACMI – The Australian Centre of the Moving Image – to explore how they present artifacts and information and engage viewers in a variety of creative ways.
Many thanks to Ms Cassandra Weeks and Mr Matthew Dudfield for joining us on the day.
