Reminder - Absences:
Students in Year 11 and 12 are in the midst of assessments and SACs as we draw closer to the end of Semester One. It is a very busy time and unfortunately it is also a time when lots of people are getting sick!
If your son or daughter is unwell on the day of a scheduled assessment, this is just a reminder that in order to reschedule these tasks, you must provide the College with either a Medical Certificate or a Statutory Declaration (Stat. Dec.). These are rules set out by the VCAA and cannot be waived for any students. We appreciate parents’ support with these processes.
It is also timely to remind families that we have minimum attendance requirements in VCE. Any student who falls below these rates may be asked to meet with myself as VCE Coordinator and the Director of Learning and Teaching (Julia Wood) to discuss students’ poor attendance and to implement a support plan moving forward.
It is really important that your sons and daughters are here at school, so that they’re able to make the most of their learning opportunities!
Year 12 Jumpers:
The Year 12 jumpers have arrived however, due to an error in the colour scheme (at the manufacturer’s end) they have not yet been given out. We are awaiting confirmation that the manufacturer will be rectifying the situation and ask for patience as this is followed up. We are aware that students are waiting on these and have been left disappointed at the error that occurred. We hope that this will be resolved very soon.
Year 11 Exams:
All Year 11 students will be involved in Assessment and Exam week, beginning Friday 5th June – 12th June. Parents should have received a hard copy of a letter (from their son or daughter) outlining the timetable, procedures and College behaviour expectations for this period of time. Please ensure you read the information carefully, as there are times when students may be able to leave school early or not attend at all.
The GAT: On Tuesday 16th June ALL Year 12 students and some Year 11 students (enrolled in a Unit 3&4 subject) will sit the statewide General Achievement Test (GAT) in the Parish Hall. All students involved are aware of this and will have received an information booklet outlining the times, procedures and expectations for this day. Students are allowed to wear comfortable casual clothes to the GAT. Parents are asked to please contact the College if you have any questions or concerns about the GAT.
Retreat Day Two:
The second Year 12 Retreat Day is running on Monday 15th June in the Parish Hall. Students are allowed to wear casual clothing and morning tea and lunch will be provided to them. It is expected that ALL Year 12 students are in attendance, as it is a very special day for the cohort.
La Trobe Bendigo visit:
Year 12 VCE students will be visiting La Trobe Bendigo on Wednesday 17th June. Full school Winter uniform will be required on this day. Students will be taken on specially coordinated tours and will meet with Steph and the team from the Regional Pathways Program to receive their hoodies for participating in the workshops throughout the year. This is a great way to begin researching possible university options and all Yr 12 VCE students will be attending.
Thank you.
