We have had a wonderful and productive few weeks in Prep! Here is what we have been learning across the different subject areas. Reading
In Reading, we have been learning how to ask questions before and during reading to help us understand stories more deeply. We explored the difference between a question (when we ask something) and a statement (when we tell something).
Writing
In Writing, students have begun creating a letter to their Grade 1 teacher. This letter will help next year’s teacher get to know them and understand how they learn best.
Numeracy
In Numeracy, we are revising key concepts from throughout the year, including:
● Shapes
● Subtraction and addition
● Friends of 10
● Location and movement
This revision helps students consolidate their learning before heading off to Grade 1. Inquiry
In Inquiry, students are exploring the solar system. Students have been learning about the planets, the features of the night sky, and about how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples traditionally used the stars to understand seasonal changes and guide activities such as hunting and harvesting
