Term 3 Wrap up

Term 3 has seen the music department with its usual flurry of activity. We had our series of Soiree concerts, an ABODA workshop and the Spring Concert.

Despite many students missing due to illness, Spring Concert was a tremendous success, showcasing all the large school ensembles. It was especially exciting to hear the enormous progress the junior groups have made, to hear Cody’s beautiful piece for concert band and the first performance of the College Orchestra for the year.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.

ABODA Workshop

On Monday 7th September, 30 students and 2 staff members attended a workshop organised by ABODA (Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association) at Nagle College. In the morning the students worked with Amanda Morrison, president of ABODA while the teachers attended a professional development session with Dr Rob McWilliams. In the afternoon, the band provided music for conductors to hone their skills. As usual, our students were outstanding, working well with the Nagle students and making the most of the opportunities presented to them.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Most of the instrumental music teachers are not available this term for interviews. Any parents/guardians who have a specific concern or would just like information on how their student is going, should contact Kim Green or the specific teacher directly to arrange a time.
