Market Day

The Year 9 Enterprising People class ran food stalls for their Market Day assessment task. Students made a variety of recipes ready to sell to their BSC community. Despite the rain changing their plans for an outdoor market, the event was a great success, and the food was so tasty that many stalls sold out. Well done to all involved!

Gippsland Athletics

Well done to Hayden and Georgia for their efforts in the Gippsland Athletics. 

Hayden will have the opportunity to compete at State level due to placing first!

Mediterranean Menu

Students from Wide World of Food created Mediterranean food from a country they researched for their assessment.

R U OK? DAY

Students enaged in our travelling photo booth for R U OK? Day, dressing up and having a bit of fun whilst thinking about the meaning behind it.

R U OK? Day is a national day of action held annually on the second Thursday of September. The campaign reminds everyone that life happens every day, so you should check in and ask "are you OK?" any day of the year.

The Four Steps to Have a Conversation

1. Ask "R U OK?"
2. Listen with an open mind
3. Encourage action if they need support
4. Check in again later

Melbourne Parliament House

On Thursday 10th September selected Year 9 and Year 10 students were able to tour the Old Melbourne Gaol. The group also went to the Magistrates Court where they participated in a role play and had to decide on an appropriate sentence. At Parliament House, whilst in the Gallery, the member giving her speech addressed us. We also saw the vote about a piece of legislation, the speaker re-directing a member speech in the lower house and then got to meet with our local member, Tim Bull. 

Woodwork

Students created bedside tables in Mr Drijver's Woodwork class. You can really see the attention to detail and craftsmanship, well done!

School for Student Leadership - Community Project

Sylah, Tully, Oscar and Jacob presented their community project to students at St. Mary's Primary School about Road & Water Safety. These students worked very hard on their powerpoint presentation and delivered it over 2 separate days, with Oscar dressed up as a car and Jacob dressed as a lifeguard. We are so proud of the work they put into preparing and presenting their community project.

Top Blokes Graduates 

Over the past two terms, nine of our Year 9 students have taken part in the Top Blokes 16-week mentoring program, exploring important topics including mental health, drugs and alcohol, leadership, risk-taking, relationships and anger management.

The boys have now completed the program, and this week we were thrilled to welcome the Head of Operations from Top Blokes to Bairnsdale Secondary College to congratulate them on their commitment and achievements. 👏

We’re incredibly proud of the way the boys have engaged, challenged themselves and grown throughout the program. As the first Victorian school to deliver the Top Blokes program, we’re excited to continue our partnership and extend the program to our Year 7 students next term.
