Sporting Achievement

Year 10 student Chloe represented the Gippsland Stars u17 Development Netball Squad every Friday night at the Waverley Netball Centre in the u19 State Super Netball Series.

Finishing school early most Fridays to travel, her commitment and passion for Netball paid off, with her being awarded the Best and Fairest and the Most Valuable Player.

This commitment from February to August meant racking up a lot of kms:

Game night- 8,840km

Sunday training days- 1,392km

There were some super late nights, sometimes not getting home until 11.30pm or even 1.00am, depending on game times, only to back it up the very next day representing Bairnsdale Football Netball Club in the u17 Netball team. Congratulations on an impressive season, Chloe!

Gippsland Athletics

Congratulations to all our students who competed at Gippsland Athletics on 8th September. We are very proud of the effort, determination and sportsmanship shown by everyone who participated.

A special mention goes to Dee, who achieved first place in her events and has earned the opportunity to compete at State Level. What an outstanding achievement - congratulations!

Year 11 VCE Food Studies

Students prepared delicious Potato and Bacon Pancake Stacks, developing their practical cooking skills while learning about food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation.

Year 12 VCE Food Studies

Students prepared delicious Singapore Noodles, which were enjoyed by Hub staff who were lucky to be treated to a few serves.

Year 11 VCE-VM Around the World Exhibition

Students put in five solid weeks of research, design and crafting to prepare an amazing exhibition. The hard work put in by the students was evident in the way they confidently shared their knowledge and were happy to discuss what they had learnt about their chosen countries. The displays were very impressive and showcased the students’ effort, creativity and knowledge. A few groups even served cultural dishes some of which included Belgian Waffles and Macedonian Sweet Bread.

R U OK? Day

Students and staff enjoyed dressing up and having their photos taken with the Polaroid photo frame. These photos were then used to create our R U OK? mural in the Hub, bringing together our school community and creating a display to promote connection and wellbeing.

Regional Chess Final

Congratulations to Year 10 student Jessy who travelled to Wesley College in Glen Waverley to compete in the Regional Chess Finals. It was a 5am start for him, so a very long day.

There were 128 students competing on the day, and Jessy won 3 games, drew 1 and lost 3. This was a really good effort for his first attempt at this level, falling one game short of qualifying for state level competition.

Market Day

Our Market Day was held on Monday 7th September, and what a great day it was! Despite the weather not being on our side and having to relocate everything indoors, our Year 9 and Year 11 students took it all in their stride and made the day a real success. Most stalls sold out, and together, our students raised over $500 for Cancer Council. A big thank you to all the students and staff who put so much time and effort into preparing for the event and helping on the day. Your hard work, enthusiasm and teamwork really paid off!

Melbourne Parliament House

On Thursday 10th September selected Year 9 and Year 10 students were able to tour the Old Melbourne Gaol. The group also went to the Magistrates Court where they participated in a role play and had to decide on an appropriate sentence. At Parliament House, whilst in the Gallery, the member giving her speech addressed us. We also saw the vote about a piece of legislation, the speaker re-directing a member speech in the lower house and then got to meet with our local member, Tim Bull.
