PE

Hi Everyone!
Term 2 has been so great, not only for the ongoing effort and energy the students are putting into PE but because of the outstanding weather we’ve had! Not be boring and talk about the weather, but how incredible has THE WEATHER BEEN!! It’s made my job that much better being able to be outside and enjoying this late hit of Autumn warmth.
In saying that, the Preps have been inside doing gymnastics! They’ve been learning all about balance, strength, how to ‘stick’ a landing and use their bodies to perform all sorts of gymnastics feats! They really have been enjoying themselves, with the vault being the favourite apparatus again. We’ve been focusing on our ‘motorbike landings’ and even giving it a little rev for good measure.
Year 1/2s have been getting right into our Athletics unit, starting with a focus on the field events of long jump and shot put. I’m loving the energy and excitement all students are bringing to these classes, we have some real natural talent quietly hanging out in these grades!
The rest of the school have been learning and refining their basketball skills. So many LPS students are already playing basketball and are bringing some great skills and knowledge into class. They’ve been helping those students unfamiliar with this great game which I’m always grateful for. Following on from basketball we’ll be moving into our Athletics unit, including everyone’s favourite…..high jump!
Congratulations again to the 35 students who ran in the Hanging Rock Cross Country on Tuesday 5th May. It was an absolutely wonderful day made all the better by….wait for it….that’s right, THE WEATHER!! Let’s wish the very best of luck to our four runners going through to the Castlemaine event on Friday 22nd May…Kaylee, Ayla, Ollie and Harry.
Good luck and enjoy!
