Hey folks,
Through the magic of writing this on Friday night I can join you on Week 3 despite being in Japan. I wonder what the weather is like.
Year 4 have made a great start to Term 2. Following in the footsteps of Term 1 - where we are quickly setting a reputation as the best class for moving around the school. We do a terrific job of keeping our role order straight line. Oh yes!
We have been filling our knowledge buckets with stuff about the human body. Specifically so far the cardio-vascular and muscular skeletal system. We are practically doctors now but with so much to learn from Professor Tamsin in the next few weeks.
Maths - we have gone over our algorithms again and begun our exploration of decimal numbers.
The kids wrote some terrific stories on Space too, possibly inspired by the exploits of Artemis 2.
Some examples below -
Eliza - One sunny day there were four brave astronauts, and their names were Ried Wiseman. He was the commander. Victor Glove was the first black man to go, Christena Koch was a mission specialist and the first lady to go, and Jeremy Hasen was really good at technology and the first Canadian man to go. Together they were heroes. They lived in America and in 2 weeks they were off to space.
For the first mission they had to check if everything was working like they had enough petrol and the roof wasn't going to fall off.
But that was all the rocket stuff was going to talk about the astronauts. They had to prepare their gear and check the air tanks. And finally they were ready. Next week they had to do the same and without evening knowing it was finished.
They left tomorrow... 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0, and blast off! They were off up into the sky at 6721 km an hour. That's crazy! They have been flying for 3 hours now. As it got longer and longer. And after 10-ish days they landed on the top of the moon's surface. They could see half of the earth fetching faces. They took loads of photos. and flew around in space and after 2 days up in space they flew home but the roof came off AAAAAHHHHHH!! they all screamed. But they were almost 30 minutes from home, so Jeremy Hansen got out of his upside-down chair, got his screwdriver and bolts and popped it back on PHEWW! they all said.
And 2 minutes and SPLASH!!! They landed safely in the Pacific Ocean and all these life boats came to rescue and they made their way back to land. They met their family and gave them lots of hugs and kisses. THE END!
Ellie - Hi my name is Aria. When I was little I always dreamed of going to space. I was three when I thought of that. My parents had faith in me but in their eyes I knew they were scared. I'm now 18 and I'm doing this. NASA is hiring astronauts and I want to be one of them. I trained ages for this moment but I was too late. NASA had already chosen 4 astronauts. And I wasn't one of them. It took me days, weeks, months and even a year to recover. People thought I was being dramatic but it was my dream. My life was depending on that moment.
