Term One
WOW! What a wonderful and extremely busy start we have had in the senior school.
Our 5-6 students have settled into the new year by demonstrating our school values of RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY and RESILIENCE.
As the children have found comfort in classroom routines, and reconnected with staff and friends, the energy in our gallery space has been buzzing with positivity and a sense of connection.
We have already celebrated leadership roles, sporting success, aerobics rehearsals, Victorian State School Spectacular rehearsals, school production announcements, John Monash Science School attendees, VHAP, Foundation-Year 5 buddies as well as NAPLAN completion and our special event days.
PHEW! I am sure I have forgotten something.
In the academic domain, the students have developed their writing skills through narrative and persuasive texts. Their persuasive writing skills were adapted into the speaking and listening space where debating skills were showcased.
Harry Potter has been an engaging mentor text that has been analysed and compared to the cinematic version.
In mathematics we have heavily focused on multiplication and division algorithms and the order of operations when evaluating expressions.
We have also explored democracy and the three levels of Australian government.
Mrs Crawford 5-6 Leader

District Swimming
Congratulations to our senior students who represented Upwey South Primary School at the district swimming carnival. Many of these students went on to swim at the divisional and regional competition.
