Year One

Communicating with the Year One Team

We are very happy to be partnering with you in 2026, and welcome your input:

When communicating with the Year One team, please reach out via the below email addresses. Your child's class teacher is your first point of contact when requiring a discussion. You will usually see us outside the classrooms at the end of the day. This is the preferred time to catch us for a quick chat as we are focused on greeting the students before school.

Please also note that we have scheduled meetings at 3.45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Classroom Learning

What a fantastic first term of Year One we have had! Students have settled well into their new classrooms and we have been enjoying getting to know each and every single one of them :) Students have been busy learning new sounds and tricky words during InitiaLit and have settled into our new program InitialMath where we have been exploring addition and subtraction as well as place value and 2D shapes. During inquiry, students have been exploring the unique geography of Australia including the States and Territories, Cities, Animals, Landscapes and Connection to Country.

"Remember, in Year One - We Can Do Hard Things!!!"

Prep - Two Swimming Program

In week Eight, Students had the opportunity to attend our schools swimming program. Students were super excited to board the bus and travel to Knox Leisure Works to practice important swim safety skills and learn new swimming techniques. For a lot of students, it was their first time on a bus and for some, in a pool without mum or dad and they did a fantastic job representing our school.

Nova "My favourite part of swimming was survival day because we got to do fun games and learnt how to take clothes off in the water."

Malakai "I liked doing freestyle in the deep pool."

Oliver "I loved jumping in the deep pool even if it was cold"

Ted "I liked playing games in the pool"

Charlie "I LOVED GOING DOWN THE WATERSLIDE!!!!!"

Cross Country

In week Nine, we celebrated Harmony day and Neurodiversity day. We talked about how we can bring Harmony into our classroom and celebrated our differences. We are all unique and that's what makes us special. The students loved sharing where their families come from and their traditions and we created paper chains and crowns to help celebrate being together :)

Behaviour Matrix

As we are a School-Wide-Positive-Behaviour-Learning School, we pride ourselves embedding our school values into our classrooms and extending these skills towards our students.  With a focus on Respect, Responsibility and Resilience, we have developed a classroom behaviour matrix in which students voiced how they can show these values. Below are 1A and 1Bs matrix.
