Term One in Year 3/4

What an amazing Term One we have had in Year 3/4! All teachers have enjoyed getting to know all students and see them settle into their 2026 classes. We have been doing some amazing classwork and it has been so rewarding seeing students succeed in different areas.

In English this term, students explored the world of storytelling through Narrative Writing, Persuasive Writing, and our class novel study of Matilda by Roald Dahl. They developed their reading comprehension skills by making predictions, discussing characters and events, and responding to the text in thoughtful ways. Students also worked on expressing their ideas clearly in writing, while continuing to build their confidence in handwriting, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

In Maths, students focused on building strong number skills through Place Value, Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication. They practised a range of strategies to solve problems, explain their thinking, and apply their learning in meaningful ways. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, students strengthened their confidence and developed important number sense skills.

In Inquiry, students explored Digital Technology and Australia and Its Neighbours. They learned about using technology safely and responsibly, while also building confidence with digital tools. In Geography, students developed their understanding of Australia’s place in the world and learned about the countries and cultures within our region.

Harmony and Neurodiversity  Day

On Thursday 26th March, Upwey South Primary School celebrated Harmony and Neurodiversity Day. It was so great to see so many students dressing in orange for Harmony Day or in bright colours for Neurodiversity Day. Students enjoyed creating a Harmony Day flower in class where they identified the different ways they show harmony.
