Connect Crew

Over the past two weeks, there has been a wonderful sense of growth, teamwork, and renewal across the school. Our Connect Crew students have been actively contributing to a number of exciting projects, each designed to strengthen our learning environment and support student wellbeing.

Our Vegetable Patch is Thriving

The school vegetable garden continues to flourish thanks to the ongoing care and attention from the Connect Crew. Students have been weeding, watering, planting, and proudly observing the results of their efforts. The patch is now full of vibrant greens and healthy produce, and students are developing not only gardening skills but also responsibility, patience, and teamwork. We look forward to harvesting and possibly incorporating some of the fresh produce into future cooking activities.

SEL Room Development in Mason House

A major highlight has been the beginning of our new Social and Emotional Learning space in Mason House. This room is designed to be a calm, safe, and supportive environment where students can retreat and reset when needed. Construction has already begun on a feature blackboard wall, an surface that will allow students to express their thoughts, practise mindfulness activities, and engage in creative reflection. As the room continues to take shape, we are excited about the positive impact it will have on student wellbeing and the sense of belonging it will foster.

New Bench Seating Project

Another group of students has been working alongside Mr Doble to kick-start the construction of new bench seating between Mason House and The Orchard. Timber has been delivered, holes have been dug, and precise measurements have been taken, setting the foundation for an inviting new outdoor space. Once complete, this area will provide students with an additional spot to eat their lunch, socialise, or simply enjoy the outdoors. We anticipate this becoming a popular meeting point and a great addition to the school grounds.

Christmas Giving – Donations Wanted

The Connect Crew are also turning their focus toward the spirit of giving this festive season. We are proudly working in conjunction with Knox City Council to support families in need this Christmas. We are seeking donations of new toys and small gifts, which will go directly to children and young people within our community.

Any contribution, big or small, would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at K7 in the Connect Room

Let’s get behind this great cause and show our young people that Christmas is about generosity, compassion, and sharing with others.
