Final Teacher Professional Learning Community Session

This term teachers have been working to improve their practice with regular professional learning and conversations focused on several strategies that we know have a big effect on learning.

Some teachers have been working on perfecting learning routines others have been working on formative assessments with mini-whiteboards with our third group working on asking the right questions to get students to think critically and more deeply and responsive teaching.

Next year we will continue this important work together in our PLC sessions.

Year 11-12 Step up Program

All Year 11 students have just participated in seven days of Year 12 classes with each subject having four lessons. Teachers have given students a great overview of the expectations of Year 12, key assessments and content. All students have plenty of Year 12 holiday homework to complete before the start of the academic year. Students who have not completed the holiday homework by the due date will be supported to get this work done after school in week 1 and 2.

Thanks to the senior school teachers for their hard work and commitment to setting students up for success in their final year. Special thanks to our Year 11 teachers who did an incredible job to get the exams marked with meaningful feedback to students so they can learn from their mistakes and identify areas for improvement. Thanks to you all.

Transition Days 7-8, 8-9, 9-10, 10-11

At this time of year all our students are Stepping Up with a formal transition program for each year level taking place on the next two Fridays

These days outline the expectations, highlights and likely experiences of the 2026 academic year and give students a taste of what is to come. All students have their courses for 2026 and will meet their new teachers and classmates next year. The transition program covers general content, information and concepts that all students need to set them up for next year.

The Year 10 to 11 transition program includes a final session to access their and plan their holiday homework schedule, giving them a real head start.

The Becoming Me Year 8 Program

What a great day the Year 8 students had in the program last Friday. The workshops helped students understand how to debunk some of the myths that society creates for our young boys and girls about how you should look, how you should act, what you should value and what your future should and shouldn't look like. These days build connection, social emotional skills and the staff value them as much as the students.

So many staff volunteered an entire day to take the boys and girls sessions - cannot thank you enough. Ask your children about what happened on the day and the meaningful conversations that were had.
