Legal Studies Excursion - Year 11

Our Unit 1 Legal Studies students enjoyed an exciting excursion into Melbourne’s legal and criminal history!
On Wednesday, the 6th of May, our Unit 1 Legal Studies students stepped beyond the classroom and into Victoria’s criminal justice history on an unforgettable Melbourne legal excursion!
Our first stop was the iconic Old Melbourne Gaol, where students explored the historic Magistrates’ Court and took part in an engaging mock trial based on culpable driving causing death. Stepping into the roles of legal professionals and courtroom participants gave students a powerful hands-on insight into how the justice system operates.
The adventure continued at Pentridge Prison with the fascinating Crime and Punishment tour, where students uncovered the realities of prison life and explored the infamous H Division that was once home to some of Australia’s most notorious criminals.
From courtroom procedures to the history of crime and punishment, this exciting excursion brought legal studies to life in a way the classroom simply can’t. A fantastic day of learning, discovery, and unforgettable experiences for our students!
