During Week 7 in Years 1 - 6 students studied a landscape painting of Vincent Van Gogh’s. They discussed the swirls of blue and white watercolours used for the sky, the green for the trees, dark blue for the mountains and orange for the wheat grass in the foreground. They then attempted to copy the painting.
During Week 8
Foundation students used tearing and cutting skills to make a collage of a mouse. Some went on to create a family of mice whilst others concentrated on one mouse.
Years 1 & 2 students worked on following instructions to draw an elephant. They talked about size and how elephants are big so their pictures had to be big. They then drew patterns on the elephant.
Years 3 & 4 students worked on drawing a picture following instructions. They watched a drawing tutorial and copied a drawing from the instructions given.
Years 5 & 6 students studied creating a character PORTRAIT inspired by the characters found in JAPANESE manga. They created a contrasting, bold background by using only black and white. The word manga comes from two Japanese words: “man,” which means “whimsical or impromptu,” and “ga,” which translates to “pictures.”
