Year 4 News

We have had a wonderful start to the term and are enjoying seeing our Year 4 students engage with new learning experiences, share their ideas and continue to grow in confidence. There is lots happening across the curriculum, and we look forward to sharing our learning with you!
As readers, we are continuing to explore our class novel, His Name Was Walter. Students are developing their comprehension skills through thoughtful discussions, making predictions and drawing inferences as they uncover the mysteries within the story. We are exploring how authors engage their readers and use clues to build curiosity and suspense.
As writers, we have been developing speeches about the animals we have been researching as part of our Inquiry unit. Students had the opportunity to present their speeches to the class, sharing their knowledge and learning with their peers. Everyone did an incredible job, and they should be very proud of their efforts, confidence and hard work!
As mathematicians, we are exploring probability through fun and hands-on experiments. Students are making predictions, testing chance and recording their results to see how often different outcomes occur. We are investigating how the number of trials and frequency of events can impact our results, using mathematical language to describe and explain our findings.
As people of a faith-filled community, we are continuing to learn about Mother Mary and her relationship with God and Jesus. Students are exploring Mary's faith, trust and love, reflecting on how her example can inspire us to show kindness, compassion and care in our own lives.
As Inquirers, we explored democracy, me and community through an incursion that encourages students to consider their role in a community, the importance of fairness and how people can contribute to decision-making. Students developed their understanding of citizenship, shared responsibility and how their voices can make a difference. This week we are beginning an exciting new unit exploring the history of St Fidelis and the changes that have taken place over the past 100 years. Students will investigate what our school and community were like in the past, consider how school life has changed over time and discover the people and events that have helped shape St Fidelis into the community we know today. We look forward to uncovering stories from our school's rich history!
We are looking forward to another wonderful week of learning, discovery and creativity as our Year 4 students continue to build their knowledge, strengthen their skills and make meaningful connections across the curriculum.
