Foundation News

What a wonderfully busy and exciting week it has been in Foundation!
Last term, our clever writers worked hard to create their very own information reports about an animal of their choice. They explored the features of factual writing and carefully included interesting information about their animal's appearance, habitat, diet and other fascinating facts.
This week, we were very excited to reunite with our Year 5/6 buddies to bring our wonderful writing to life! With their buddies' support, our Foundation students became typing wizards, using Chromebooks to publish their information reports and add pictures of their chosen animals. We will proudly display these alongside their amazing dioramas at our upcoming Art Show! We were so impressed with the students' efforts and incredibly grateful to our buddies for their patience, encouragement and guidance. It was lovely to see the older students taking on the role of teachers and supporting their Foundation buddies throughout this special experience.
In Religion, we have been celebrating October, the Month of Mary, and exploring the significance of the Rosary. We have enjoyed looking at a variety of beautiful Rosary beads and discussing why they are so special and meaningful to many people. We have also been learning more about Mary, her important role in Jesus' life and how we can follow her example by showing love, kindness and care for others. Through our learning, we have begun exploring the special prayers of the Rosary, including the Hail Mary, Our Father and Glory Be. We look forward to continuing to practise these prayers and deepen our connection with God, Jesus and Mary.
This week we will be learning about…
- Numeracy- Grouping (Multiplication)
- Reading- revising the sounds and skills learnt throughout the Initialit program and exploring characters, settings and story structure of narratives.
- Writing - Narratives - character, setting, and problem/solution.
