From the Assistant Principal: Learning & Innovation

By Adele Ryan

Term 1 has been a strong start to 2026, marked by meaningful learning, student growth, and academic achievement at Loreto. Through rigorous learning experiences, we continue to honour our rich Loreto tradition and the vision of our founder, Mother Gonzaga Barry, who encouraged students to 'aim at something excellent'.

The commitment shown by students and staff has set a positive tone for the year. Our Year 7 and Year 9 students approached NAPLAN with maturity and focus, supported by Mr Flynn Jamieson, Ms Emma Kilpatrick, Year level coordinators and supervising teachers. Students have also engaged enthusiastically in a wide range of enrichment opportunities, including public speaking, the Arts, and co-curricular clubs.

Strong teacher–student relationships remain central to learning success, encouraging students to engage deeply and take confident learning risks. We look forward to building these partnerships further through Parent–Teacher–Student Meetings in Term 2, with details shared early next term.

As we move into Term 2, we remain focused on sustaining learning momentum and supporting growth for every student. Interim reports will be available at the end of term, and we encourage students to reflect on their progress and next steps. We value the ongoing partnership between students, families, and staff in nurturing a strong culture of learning.
