It has been wonderful to see VCE art rooms become busy and alive with art making and Year 8 Drama students develop expressive skills and build confidence, and Year 7 Music students learn and practice a new instrument learning. Term 1 has started with energy and joy!

Next Gen 2026

Earlier in the term the Next Gen Art Exhibition was held at the Ballarat Gallery. We were very proud of Beth - Year 12, whose acrylic painting ‘The way I see it: Golden Fragments’ was selected for exhibition.

Beth created this artwork while a Year 11 student and undertaking Unit 3/4 Art Creative Practice and was awarded the 2025 Principal’s Award for this painting. We congratulate Beth on her creativity and commitment to her artwork and studies and thank her teacher Ms Alex Davsion for her support and encouragement.

The program supports Year 11 students to engage with theatre professionals in a performance setting. She will work with other Victorian school students in small groups to learn more about directing, acting, production design, theatre management and marketing at the MTC studios in Southbank. We congratulate Neve and wish her all the best in the amazing program.

MTC Excursion

VCE Theatre Studies, Year 10 and Year 9 Drama enjoyed viewing the production of My Brilliant Career at the MTC this term. The ensemble performed a musical based on the 1901 novel by Miles Franklin which tells the story of a young women wishing for a different kind of life. Students analysed the elements of theatre composition and commented on a specific actor’s use of actings skills. This excursion builds confidence and capacity in analysing theatre in an exam and test context. Thanks to Ms Stephanie Greet and Ms Lindy Crowe for the time in organising and accompanying students to Melbourne for this performance.

Pippin

Rehearsals for Pippin, the musical, are underway with students from Loreto College and St Patrick’s College working hard to stage scenes and learn musical numbers. Loreto College staff have been working on creating props and costumes and sets, with lighting and sound designed this week! We thank all staff who have provided time to the production thus far.

The production opens on the Wednesday 6 May with evening productions on the evening Thursday 7 and Friday 8 and a matinee on Saturday 9 May.
