NCCD & Personal Learning Plans
In line with the guidelines of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), our school develops Personal Learning Plans (PLPs) for students who benefit from targeted adjustments to support their learning and participation. An NCCD information sheet is also attached to this newsletter.
PLPs outline the strategies, adjustments, and supports in place to help each student engage successfully in their learning. If you are new to Loreto as a Year 7 parent, these look a little more streamlined than what you may see in a Primary School plan as we deal with up to 10 staff for any one student. These plans are reviewed regularly to ensure they continue to meet student needs and can be shared with a wider range of teaching staff in the secondary setting. For all families, you will notice a new clear format and acknowledgement process – rather than word documents and PDFs being emailed home – our PLPs will come as a report for acknowledgement.
Some students have PSGs each semester, some each term - depending on their individual needs. Parents do not need to wait for a PSG to ask for LD staff to review their student’s PLP if things have changed in their circumstances or a health professional makes recommendations. This termly reminder will help keep teachers and staff working with your child to be up to date with their latest information.
Late in Term 1 or early Term 2 before Parent Teacher Interviews, families will be able to access their child’s Personal Learning Plan through PAM (Parent Access Module). Parents and carers are asked to:
- Open and read the plan carefully
- Provide any feedback or updates to the relevant Learning Diversity teacher via email
- Acknowledge the plan in PAM, in the same way you would acknowledge a school report
Family feedback is an important part of the review process, and your insights help ensure the supports in place continue to assist your child’s learning, wellbeing, and participation at school. Thank you for your ongoing partnership in supporting every student to thrive.
