A Massive Month of Sport at Loreto College

Term 1 has been nothing short of extraordinary for sport at Loreto College, with four major carnivals, outstanding team participation and a series of remarkable individual achievements that truly highlight the depth of talent within our community. From the buzz of Swimming Carnival in Week 6 to the competitive spirit of the Respect Cup in Week 7, followed by Athletics Day in Week 8 and culminating in the BAS Athletics Championships in Week 9, our students have embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, sportsmanship and Loreto pride.

Beyond the major carnivals, Loreto’s involvement in BAS sport has flourished throughout the term. Participation across lawn bowls, basketball, volleyball and tennis has been fantastic and it has been wonderful to see so many girls engaging in after‑school competitions and supporting their teammates throughout the season.

A sincere thanks to all staff from Loreto College who has made sport in Term 1 possible and a big thanks to Mia Gartside who has done an amazing job as sports assistant.

As we wrap up an action-packed term of sport, we congratulate every student who trained, competed, cheered or contributed in any way. We look forward to even more success, participation and memorable moments in Term 2.

Swimming Carnival

It was a fantastic day at Eureka Pool on 4 March as our 2026 Swimming Carnival got underway. From the 50m races throughout the day to the water polo games and boogie board races, there was fun happening everywhere, not to mention our staff versus students race! The cheering and encouragement from the sides of the pool helped create a day filled with house spirit.

We loved seeing so many students get involved in the day. A big congratulations to our Year Level Champions who put in outstanding performances across the day.

Congratulations to Barry, who were crowned overall champions after a fantastic House effort in and out of the pool. Barry also won the Synchronised Swimming Competition, while Mornane took home the Spirit Stick.

BAS Golf

Loreto College was well represented in the BAS Golf competition and won two Silver Medals - one in the Senior Girls and one in the Junior Girls. Our team battled some strong winds and narrowly escaping a storm.

Well done to the following students:

Senior Girls - Pearl G - Year 10 - Silver

Junior Girls - Olivia M - Year 7 - Silver (her first BAS competition for golf)

The girls were great sports, very encouraging of their peers and did Loreto College proud and their results reflect strong individual performances and continued growth within our golf program.
