Performing Arts

The Foundation students have focused on beat and learnt about the different timbre (sound quality) of various untuned percussion instruments. Students created their own Beat Circles.
Students also learnt that some beats are longer than others and this is called rhythm. We have sung and clapped to the sound of the Fruit and Vegetable beats - 'Beet' and 'Melon.'
Finally, students played keyboard on the note C and played short and long
(Beet and Melon ) notes using music notes! How clever
The Year 1 students have developed their group dancing skills by following the movements to the American folk song & dance, 'The Paw Paw Patch.'
The students were very clever selecting the correct instruments to complete this sorting activity. Students selected the drum kit, fiddle, accordian and the banjo!
Students also listened and danced to a classic American country song, 'Thank God I'm A Country Boy,' performed by John Denver.
The Grade 2 students sung and danced to a tradition English song called, 'Bow Wow Wow' with the Beet and Cherry rhythm. The students then filled out a worksheet to check if they could follow the song's rhythm. They were asked to draw a bone for the beet and a doggie for the cherry. What a super job!
Students have studied Time Signature in Music and worked out the number of beats for each example. How clever!
The Grade 3 students played the nursery rhyme, 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' 4 note melody on keyboards and tuned percussion.
