Grade 2 News

What a fantastic term it has been! Our Grade 2 students have shown great dedication and enthusiasm across all areas of their learning.

In Geography, students have been exploring their place within Australia and the wider world. This has provided a meaningful real-life learning opportunity that can easily be continued at home. When you are out and about or travelling, we encourage you to talk with your child about directions using compass points to help reinforce this understanding.

In Religion, we have completed our unit on Grief and Loss. This topic may lead to some thoughtful conversations at home. Students have shared their own experiences, explored feelings associated with loss, and discussed ways we can support others who are grieving. We have also learnt that change is a natural part of life’s seasons and cycles, and that life continues with God.

In Numeracy, students have developed their understanding of place value, addition and subtraction, as well as measurement concepts including length, mass and capacity.

In Literacy, we have been focusing on writing information reports. Students have demonstrated a strong understanding of the features of this text type and have enjoyed researching and including interesting facts in their writing.
