Foundation

Welcome to Term 3!
It has been wonderful to see the Foundations back to school and ready for learning. We hope you have had a wonderful break and are excited for this Term!
Phonics
In Phonics, the Foundations have been learning the diagraphs 'th', 'wh' and 'ck'. We have been learning about how to differentiate the unvoiced and voiced 'th' sound from the 'f' sound. We are also working on comparing the 'wh' sound to the 'w' sound which can also be quite tricky!
Literacy
In Literacy, the Foundations have been reading 'Knuffle Bunnny' by Mo Willems and ‘Lost in the City’ by Alice Courtley. These books tie into our Term 3 Inquiry unit about 'Places Around Me' where we are learning about important places, its features, significance and how we care for it. This term we are also starting to learn about how to write on dotted thirds!
Numeracy
In Maths, the Foundations have been learning about location and direction through the use of positional language such as: above, behind, backwards, beside and between. We have been practicing mapping, giving directions and providing accurate locations.
