Demolition of the old Admin Building & Cottage

Over the school holidays, the old Administration Building and Cottage were successfully demolished. Fleetwood completed the works safely and on schedule, including the removal of asbestos-containing material (ACM) prior to the holidays.

We are now exploring options for a new playground and other ways to make the best use of the former Administration Building site. We look forward to keeping our community updated as plans progress.

A Busy and Exciting Start to Term 3!

We have enjoyed a calm and positive start to Term 3, with students settling back into their learning routines quickly after the holiday break. We are looking forward to another exciting and productive term ahead, with many opportunities for our students to learn, grow and thrive. We start with our Tee Ball team competing at the Division Championships tomorrow. Over the next coming weeks we have exciting events including the Junior Hoop Time for our Year 3/4 students and Foundation students celebrating their 100 Days of School in Week 3. In week 4, Year 1 excursion to the Melbourne Zoo will take place along with the ICAS assessments and Australian Mathematics Competition. We also have our Trivia night on Saturday 8th August. Our Foundation- 5 Swimming Program occurs in Week 5 at  Aquanation and the Year 3–6 Athletics Carnival in Week 6. It's shaping up to be an exciting and action-packed start to Term 3, and we look forward to sharing our students' many achievements and experiences with you throughout the term.

Welcome to our new staff members

We are delighted to welcome Ally How (Sustainability) and Sun Pezzimenti (Music) to our school community. Both have settled in wonderfully and are already getting to know our students, staff and families. Their enthusiasm, knowledge and positive approach have made an excellent first impression, and we are confident they will be a fantastic asset to our school. We also welcome Danae Maxwell-Wright, who has joined Lily Luu in teaching 5JM while Jason Mulder continues in the Acting Assistant Principal role throughout Term 3. Danae is a highly experienced teacher who is already familiar with many of our students and school community. We thank Danae and Lily for their support and look forward to the positive contributions they will make this term.

Wellbeing Information Session

At Heathmont East Primary School, we are proud to run a comprehensive Wellbeing program that supports the social, emotional, and personal growth of every student. This includes our Friendology program, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), and Cyber Safety education, alongside a range of bespoke strategies that our teachers and education support staff implement every day in the classroom.

We would like to invite all parents and carers to a Wellbeing Information Session on Wednesday 2nd September at 5:30 PM, where we will be joined by our School Counsellor, Tal, to share how we support the wellbeing of every student at HEPS.

This will be a great opportunity to learn more about our approach and to ask any questions you may have about how we can continue to support the wellbeing of all our students, both at school and at home.

HEPS Annual Trivia Night – Saturday 8 August

Get your team together and join us for one of the biggest social events on the HEPS calendar! Enjoy a fantastic evening of trivia, games, raffles, a silent auction and plenty of fun, all while supporting our school community.

Tickets are $30 per person, with doors opening at 6:00 pm and trivia commencing at 7:00 pm. This is an adults-only event, and guests are welcome to BYO drinks and snacks.

This year's raffle features an amazing prize pool, with 1st prize valued at $2,083, 2nd prize at $1,205, and 3rd prize at $395, thanks to the generous support of our local businesses. Why daily reading with your child matters so much

• 20–30 minutes a day, every day is one of the most powerful things you can do for your child's learning, at any age or year level.
• Reading together beats reading alone. Even if your child can read fluently by themselves, sitting with them and talking about the story still makes a big difference.
• What "reading together" looks like:
  • Talking about what's happening in the story
  • Connecting the story to real life
  • Asking questions to check they understand
  • Discussing new or tricky words
• The payoff: kids build bigger vocabularies, stronger spoken language skills, and broader general knowledge.
