Level 2 

Welcome to Term 3! 

We have had a wonderful start to the term, and it has been fantastic to see our students returning with enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards their learning.

Literacy

In Reading, students have been exploring non-fiction texts. They have been learning how to identify features such as headings, captions, photographs, labels and diagrams that help readers find and understand information. Students have also been discussing the difference between facts and opinions, learning how to recognise information that can be proven compared with personal beliefs.

In Writing, students have been identifying important information from non-fiction texts and recording key facts using dot points. They have then used these facts to write factual sentences.

Numeracy

In Maths, we are exploring multiplication. Students began the term by revising doubles and skip counting before strengthening their understanding of multiplication through arrays, equal groups, repeated addition and multiplication equations. They have used thinkboards to show their thinking in different ways and have investigated real-life examples of arrays. 

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have begun our Geography unit, Mapping Our World. We have explored different ways of representing places, including photographs, maps, drawings, digital images and aerial views, discussing how each representation provides different information.
