Stage 4:
Maths
This term students have been learning about Angles. They have been measuring and constructing Acute and Adjacent angels using the protractor.
Science
Exploring Forces in Science
This term, students have been investigating the fascinating world of forces and how they influence the movement and behaviour of objects around us. Through a range of hands-on experiments, students have explored concepts including pushes and pulls, air pressure, motion, gravity, and static electricity.
Students put their scientific thinking into action during our Whoosh Bottle experiment, where they investigated how changes in air pressure can create movement. They also explored forces and motion through our Flying Cups activity, experimenting with how different forces can affect the flight path and distance travelled.
One of the highlights was our water bottle rocket experiment, where students designed and tested rockets while learning about Newton's Laws of action and reaction forces.
Students also investigated static electricity through a variety of exciting experiments, including using charged rods to attract pieces of paper, bending a stream of water, and moving an aluminium can without touching it. These activities helped students see how invisible forces can have a very visible impact!
Throughout these investigations, students have been developing their skills in making predictions, conducting fair tests, observing results, and explaining scientific ideas using evidence. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm as they discover how forces are at work in everyday life.
CAPA
This term our stage 4 Music students have been very busy. They began the term by covering film music, which leads into Asssessment task 1: Composing a soundscape.
In this assessment task, students choose one of three short film excerpts without audio. The task has been for the students to create their own soundtrack, using sound effects and background music. There have been some fantastic compositions presented that highlight the talent within our support unit classes!
For the practical component, the students have been learning how to play the guitar, read guitar tablature and have been applying their learning to some of their favourite songs.
Stage 5:
Maths
In term 2, our stage 5 maths students have been tackling the probability and algebraic equations units. They have been learning about dependent and independent probability, the probability scale and algebraic equations with pronumerals on both sides, algebraic fractions, substituting within algebraic equations, and solving algebraic equations.
Assessment task 2 was completed in week 9, before moving onto trigonometry to close out the term.
Science
Stage 5 Science classes have been learning about diseases and the ways in which out body fights diseases. We attended to an interesting assessment that looked at homeostasis and the way in which the body deals with sugar to get vital glucose into our cells. We will be attending the Museum of Diseases at UNSW later in the month and are very much looking forward to the experience.
Stage 6:
Agriculture
Exploring Animal Production in Agriculture
This term, Stage 6 Agriculture students have been exploring the relationship between animal nutrition, production outcomes, consumer preferences, and sustainable farming practices. Students have investigated the nutritional requirements of animals and how the quality of feed provided can influence animal health and the characteristics of animal products.
As part of their learning, students conducted an exciting investigation into how different feed sources can affect the colour of egg yolks and albumen. Students fed chickens different food supplements, including spinach and pumpkin, and observed whether these changes influenced the appearance of the eggs produced. This experiment allowed students to apply their understanding of animal nutrition while developing their skills in observation, data collection, and evaluating the impact of management decisions on animal products.
Students have also explored the features of animal products that are important to consumers, including appearance, quality, nutritional value, and production methods. They discussed how consumer expectations can influence farming practices and how producers make decisions to meet market demands.
Throughout this unit, students have developed their understanding of sustainable farm management practices, considering how farmers can balance productivity, animal welfare, environmental responsibility, and economic sustainability. It has been fantastic to see students engaging with practical agricultural experiences and making connections between classroom learning and real-world farming systems.
English Studies
This term, our Stage 6 English Studies students have been exploring ideas and perspectives surrounding the concept of family through their study of the module Part of the Family: English and Family Life. A key focus has been The Story of Tom Brennan, which has encouraged students to examine how texts represent family relationships, values, and experiences in different ways.
Students have engaged enthusiastically with the novel and participated thoughtfully in class discussions. In Week 11, they will complete their second assessment task, compiling three family recipes and reflecting on how these recipes represent family traditions, values, relationships, and connections.

Biggest Morning Tea
Camden High School's Biggest Morning Tea was a wonderful success, with students and staff coming together to support the Cancer Council and raise over $700 for this important cause. The event showcased the generosity and community spirit of our school, with everyone enjoying a fantastic morning while helping make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer. Thank you to everyone who donated, baked, and supported this worthy cause.
Nygiani Program
Selected students recently participated in the Nygani Program, a valuable opportunity that focused on building cultural connections, developing leadership skills, and promoting student wellbeing. Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of activities that encouraged teamwork, self-reflection, and a deeper understanding of culture and identity. The experience was highly rewarding, and students represented Camden High School with pride and enthusiasm.
Parent Open Afternoon
Camden High School recently welcomed parents and carers into classrooms for our Student Parent Open Day. Families had the opportunity to participate in lessons alongside their children, gaining valuable insight into classroom learning and the engaging experiences offered across the school. The day provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen home-school partnerships and celebrate the learning taking place at Camden High School. Thank you to all families who attended and supported this special event.
Camden Vs Cowra
Students from the Camden High School Support Faculty enjoyed attending the Camden vs Cowra events as spectators, providing encouragement and support while celebrating the achievements of their peers. The day offered students the opportunity to engage with the wider school community, experience the excitement of the event, and demonstrate the pride and inclusivity that are valued at Camden High School.
