Students recently took part in the Kickstart program at the University of Sydney, immersing themselves in university-level laboratory experiences tailored to Module 8 of the HSC Chemistry syllabus.






During their visit, students had the chance to operate advanced scientific instruments such as spectrophotometers and chromatography equipment, gaining hands-on experience with techniques that are central to analytical chemistry. The activities highlighted and synthesis, and students were able to interpret real experimental data, deepening their understanding of content including the identification and analysis of chemical substances.




This engaging excursion not only enriched their learning with practical insights but also offered a glimpse into the dynamic world of scientific research beyond the classroom, inspiring students to consider future pathways in chemistry and STEM.
Our Year 12 Biology students are diving deep into genetic science as they work on creating mutant bacteria at Sydney University through the Kickstart program.












In this exciting project, the students are isolating a specific gene that codes for a protein widely used as a red dye in the food industry. This practical activity not only enhances their understanding of molecular biology and genetic engineering but also highlights the real-world applications of their studies. By participating in this program, students gain invaluable experience in laboratory techniques and see firsthand how biotechnology can contribute to industrial innovation.












Our science classrooms are buzzing with curiosity and discovery as students engage with a variety of fascinating topics.
Year 7 students are exploring the fundamental concept of forces, investigating how pushes and pulls can cause movement or changes in shape. Through practical experiments and demonstrations, they are learning about friction, gravity, and the effects of different forces in everyday life.
In Year 8, the focus shifts to magnetism and electrostatic forces. Students are discovering how magnetic fields interact with materials and how electric charges produce forces that can repel or attract. These lessons introduce the basics of electricity and magnetism, laying the groundwork for more advanced studies in later years.


Year 9 scientists are delving into the world of disease, studying how pathogens spread, the body’s responses, and the importance of hygiene and vaccination. By examining historical and contemporary examples, they gain an understanding of how scientific knowledge helps us combat illnesses and improve public health.
Finally, Year 10 students are embarking on a journey through the universe as they learn about telescopes and their role in exploring space. They are investigating different types of telescopes, how they work, and the discoveries they have enabled, connecting scientific principles with humanity’s quest to understand the cosmos.
