The Great Outdoors

This week our Year 7 students enjoyed a fun-filled three-day camp experience at the Swan Valley Adventure Centre where they had the healthy benefit of being physically active in the outdoors.

School camps provide for a wonderfully liberating way for students to interact with the natural environment as well as an opportunity to socialise with each other outside of the confines of the classroom.

Whilst Level 2 was much quieter than normal, the camp experience allowed for new friendships to be made and positive interactions to occur across the 95 Year 7s in attendance.

A wide range of daytime activities was offered including archery, raft building, abseiling, canoeing, crate stack and a muddy and water filled commando course. Teamwork challenges, wink murder and movie nights filled their evening entertainment sessions which again supported the development and deepening of both existing and new friendships across our Year 7 cohort.

I think it is fair to say that a good time was had by all and there was certainly a buzz of excitement as they returned back to campus on Wednesday afternoon.

House Spirit

Last week the Interschool Swimming Carnival at Claremont Pools saw each house compete with a vibrant house spirit and effervescent energy seeking to be crowned the champion house.

After fierce competition, so many rehearsals and much training . . .

  • The Sync Swim Champions were Mandela House
  • The Spirit Award for Participation and the Novelty Races was awarded to Mandela House.
  • The Swimming Champions for 2024 were Gandhi House.

Congratulations to all houses and their House Captains who performed brilliantly on the day.

Gandhi Parent Sundowner

Last night we welcomed a sea of red on Level 4 with the Gandhi House Parent Sundowner. It was a magical evening with Miss Perejmibida leading her House and introducing the PCG Tutors to our Gandhi families.

Gandhi House Captain Azeva spoke proudly about her passion for Gandhi House and Isla performed delightfully to add a musical ensemble and sparkle to the evening in entertaining us.

My sincere thanks to all families who were able to attend. (See our social page at the end of this newsletter!)

As an aside, the Lincoln House Parent Sundowner is on Thursday 2 May and Mandela House Parent Sundowner is on Thursday 1 August. Please pencil these dates into your diaries.

Long Weekend

This weekend brings with it the bonus of the Labour Day Holiday; a day to recharge our batteries, get a bit of extra sleep, catch up on homework and perhaps even delve headfirst into a novel.

I wish you all a wonderful three-day break,

Mrs Tina Campbell
