Black Swan Theatre

Our Year 10, 11 ad 12 Drama students were treated to the immersive and thought-provoking performance of The Pool by Steve Rodgers, presented by the esteemed Black Swan Theatre Company.

This Australian site-specific work took place at the Bold Park Aquatic Centre, where students were able to enjoy and critically analyse acting, directing and design choices that communicate meaning to the audience. "The Pool" not only showcased the immense talent of the Black Swan Theatre Company but provided our students with a unique and enriching theatrical experience.

Students were ushered on arrival to a grassed area by the pool where they watched the chorus partake in warm up laps or loiter around the pool. Once the entry opened, students swiftly made their way to the poolside and begun to listen to the pre-show dialogue through the provided headphones. As the show unfolded, students were greeted by an array of characters and their inner monologues which explore different perspectives and water related experiences.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Black Swan Theatre Company for delivering an outstanding performance, as well as to our dedicated Drama students for their professional theatre etiquette and notetaking skills on this excursion. Such experiences contribute significantly to the holistic development of our students, fostering a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Thank you to the parents and guardians for your transportation during out of school hours and for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing more theatrical adventures with our Drama classes in the future.
