Tremendous 3

Term 1 Week 10
Year 3 Newsletter
What a fantastic term we have had! We are so proud of the way students have settled into Grade 3 and embraced their learning. They have shown positive attitudes, resilience, and a willingness to try their best in all areas. It has been a joy to see the growth they have already made, and we look forward to another exciting term ahead.
Literacy
In Literacy, students have completed their narrative writing pieces, and we are incredibly impressed with their efforts. They have worked hard to include engaging storylines and use descriptive language to bring their ideas to life. Many students experimented with exciting vocabulary and detailed descriptions, making their writing more vivid and enjoyable to read. They should all feel very proud of their achievements.
Phonics
This week in Phonics, students have been learning about the “y at the end” rule. They have shown a strong understanding of how this rule works and have been actively engaged in all lessons and activities. It has been great to see their confidence grow as they apply this knowledge in both reading and writing tasks.
Maths:
We have now completed our first unit on multiplication and division. Throughout this unit, students developed their understanding of multiplying and dividing one- and two-digit numbers using a variety of strategies. They explored number sentences, created diagrams and arrays, and practised solving problems in different ways. It has been fantastic to see students building confidence and flexibility in their thinking as they approach mathematical challenges.
Inquiry
Students have finished the term on a high note by creating incredible posters to showcase their understanding of the First Fleet. They demonstrated thoughtful research skills and a growing awareness of the impact this event had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It has been wonderful to see students take pride in their work and confidently share their knowledge with others.
