In Visual Arts, students have continued to develop their understanding of colour, focusing on mixing primary and secondary colours, with older students extending their knowledge to tertiary colours.
Foundation students enjoyed creating a variety of Easter crafts this week. They were able to choose from decorating an Easter basket, making pop-out eggs, colouring egg stickers, or completing an Easter colouring page.
Year 1/2 students completed their primary and secondary colour flower collages from last week, demonstrating their understanding of colour mixing. They also enjoyed participating in Easter craft activities, choosing from a range of creative options similar to Foundation.
Year 3/4 students continued exploring primary and secondary colour mixing and were inspired by Australian artist Anna Blatman, who is known for her vibrant use of colour in artworks featuring nature, birds, and food. Students created their own abstract shape artworks, focusing on shape and colour, using dry pastels and black glue to enhance their designs.
Year 5/6 students revised their understanding of secondary and tertiary colours by completing a colour wheel. They then designed their own chip packet logo, which was added to their colour wheel and laminated to create a 3D effect. Students also explored line through creating line landscape drawings, using coloured fine liners to fill foreground and background areas by following the contours of their chosen scene.
Ms Zehra and I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter and a safe, relaxing holiday break.

Last week in PE, students in years 2-4 continued their developing understanding and skills of teeball. Some students were introduced to using a glove for the first time, which was interesting for them to learn that the glove didn’t go on their preferred hand, as they needed this free to throw the ball. This concept and feel was a bit different for them, so they took a little bit to get used to. They had a go at fielding, catching the ball, and throwing to a partner while using the glove. They also had more opportunities to develop their batting skills, and it has been great to see their excitement and enthusiasm when participating in this sport.
The Preps and 1’s continued to play minor games to develop their hand-eye coordination along with their teamwork, by working with a partner, catching and throwing in pairs and then using some of these skills to play tunnel ball, under / over relay and leaderball. They have had a great time.
The 5-6s have had two sessions of volleyball, developing the skills and technique along with developing an understanding of the rules. This included shots such as digging, setting and spiking, along with serving.
In the final week of term, all classes have an opportunity to choose the games and activities that they enjoy. This has included games of Octopus, ‘Ship, Shark, Shore’, fruit salad, clean the yard, basketball and netball games, dodgeball and many others. It is a very fun week for students to have a go at a number of different activities, and it caters to everyone.

Interschool Sports
Summer Lightning Premiership.
Last week year 56 students played their summer lightning premiership competitions. We went in confident in most sports but in a couple of those sports, we didn’t play to the best of our ability.
Our tennis and volleyball teams worked hard and had a few wins, and the boys teeball didn’t play at the same level as they had all year and couldn’t quite get over the line in their games.
However, the girls teeball team dominated and won all three games very comfortably taking out the premiership. Well done to the girls.
As a result of this, this team now advances to the next round, division, which will be held in term 3.

House Cross Country – Tuesday 24th March
Two weeks ago we held our annual house cross-country event on the ovals next to the school. The day started off very hot and humid, and it was worrying about how hot it would be for the students. Luckily about 30 minutes before the event, a cool change came through, and it was much cooler and even threatened to rain. We had a few drops of rain.
It was a great day, all students came dressed in their house colours, and ran as best they could. They all got a Zooper Dooper for their efforts and I was very proud of how they participated. It was also great to see a number parents and family come along to support.
Thanks to all the teachers and staff for their support of the event.
Students in years 3-6 will be selected to represent our school at the Kingston District event which will be held at the start of term 2.

Whilst it has been a very short term for the Music program with me only returning from family leave in week 9 we have managed to cram lots of wonderful music making into the final two weeks of Term 1.
Students from Foundation to Year 6 have been learning the song called The Hall of Fame in preparation for our leadership day in Week 2 of Term 2. Students have been using a call and response technique to memorising lyrics and have done a wonderful job learning the whole song in a short period of time.
The Choir and Band has also begun again for 2026 and the turn out was incredible (see the image of just some of the many students who turned up to take part). Students in the band and choir will be given the opportunity to experiment with music and songs from different cultures, periods of time and in different styles.
I look forward to creating lots of music in Term 2!
