Term 2 Week 4
Over the last couple of weeks student's have been learning about special cultural celebrations that occur in Japan. In particular Children's Day, which is celebrated in Japan on May 5th. Students made Koinobori, koi fish flags. These flags represent strength and health for all children. They have loved learning about how families celebrate in Japan, what these days might look like and why they are special.

We have been having so much in Music this term with lots of teamwork and creativity being shared.
Prep students have been reading The Very Cranky Bear and making angry and calm sounds with percussion instruments.
They are currently working on a soundscape to add details to the story using pictures to link to sounds.
Year One students have made their own version of 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear'. Each student had a go a singing their part of the song - so brave!
They're now working on creating their own soundscapes of different types of weather, I am looking forward to their performance in the next few weeks.
Year Two students have rehearsed and performed a variety of different chants. We discussed the importance of using actions that matched the words in the chants to help them remember - they did a fabulous job!
They're currently working on a soundscape to add detail to Tiddler (a text they're reading in class). In small groups they are being creative with percussion instruments and body percussion. The plan is to perform them as we read the story again in the next week.

There will be a Concert meeting on Tuesday at RECESS for ANY 5/6 students who are interested in audition of a speaking role. The meeting will run for 5-10minutes in the STEAM Room. Looking forward to seeing students there!!
