Upcoming Learning

Literacy

Over the next few weeks in literacy, students will continue developing their sentence-level writing skills, focusing on subject-verb agreement and tense. They will learn to create complete sentences from dependent clause stems and explore modality words that show how certain or unsure someone is, such as "will" or "maybe." Additionally, the new class novel will provide opportunities to compare and contrast characters with Tiddler through character maps.

Maths

Over the next few weeks, students will continue developing their partitioning skills to support their transition from informal strategies to written algorithms. They will apply their understanding of partitioning to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Concrete materials, such as base ten blocks, number bonds, and number lines, will be used to reinforce these concepts.

Science - Push and Pull Forces

Students will explore the strength and direction of push and pull forces and their effects on objects' movement and shape. They will explore the concept of gravity and conduct floating and sinking experiments to explore buoyant force. Students will design and build a device using pushes or pulls.

Essential Questions

  • How do push and pull forces affect the shape and movement of objects?
  • What are the effects of gravity and buoyancy?
